Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) ($68,000) The District has made it a priority to revamp and improve the K-12 mathematics curriculum resources for 2015-2016. The MTEF will assist by providing new middle and high school math textbooks ($60,000), including materials for advanced high school mathematics. HHS students will also use new Vernier interface measuring devices in science classes this year ($8,000).
4K Curriculum and Classroom Technology Support ($38,500) The MTEF welcomes our youngest learners and their families! To help equip our 4K teachers and their new program, the Foundation will purchase technology, math manipulatives, emotional learning resources and classroom library books.
Professional Development ($32,500) The Foundation appreciates one of MTSD’s greatest resources: outstanding teachers. To help our educators continue to grow and keep up with best practices, the MTEF has awarded each school principal discretionary support to cover staff professional development.
Enhance Elementary Classroom Libraries ($21,000) To meet the continued Reader’s Workshop resource needs, MTEF will purchase books for all three elementary schools.
21st Century Mobile Technology ($18,000) All six school IMCs (libraries) will receive mobile presentation stations to help facilitate collaborative small group learning. Teachers may check out units, extending usage to classrooms as well.
FitnessGram for Physical Education ($11,366) This grant will help K-12 Physical Education teachers implement a new comprehensive educational, reporting and promotional tool intended to stay with students throughout their MTSD career. FitnessGram evaluates five components of students’ health-related fitness (aerobic capacity, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, body composition) and is the most widely used children’s health-related physical fitness assessment in the world.
HHS Writing Lab ($30,000) The Sydney Lauren Tabakin Writing Lab was visited 1,889 times during the 2014-2015 school year and this grant will keep this well-used lab open for the 2015-2016 school year.
Musical Arts Program ($11,000) Much needed repairs to the Steinway concert grand piano, used by K-12 music and theatre performances at HHS, will be made possible thanks to this grant.
Donor Designated Donations ($49,540) Individual donors have generously funded grants to meet specific needs throughout the school district including Room 2015, HHS Black Box updates, summer tutoring, and forensics programming.
Excellence in Teaching Awards ($3,000) Due to the continued generosity of our donors, we are able to award Excellence in Teaching awards at the elementary, middle and high school levels.
