Grants

2025-26 GRANTS AWARDED

Thanks to the financial and volunteer support we received from the community during 2024-2025, the MTEF is awarding grants totaling $200,000 for the 2025-2026 school year.

CURRICULUM ($72,250)
Meaningful enhancements to literacy, writing, and STEM instruction were implemented across the district. At the elementary school level, funding provided decodable books-a vital resource for phonics-based learning-helping young readers build the foundational skills they need to become confident, independent learners. At both middle schools and Homestead High School stereoscopes were introduced to bridge middle school and high school curriculum and provide students with expanded opportunities for inquiry-based learning. At Homestead, additional grants supported the Writing Lab, where students receive personalized, one-on-one support from English department faculty to strengthen their writing across disciplines. Funding also helped launch Music Technology, a new course where students gain hands-on experience with industry-standard software and tools, learn the fundamentals of music production, and explore potential career pathways in music technology and audio engineering.

TECHNOLOGY ($95,250)The focus was on enhancing the learning and teaching experiences at Homestead High School. The Foundation funded 22 Newline interactive panels, replacing outdated technology and creating dynamic opportunities for student collaboration, creativity, and engagement. These state-of-the-art panels empower teachers to integrate technology more effectively into their daily instruction. Additionally, Homestead's Visual Arts department received a grant to upgrade art technology, benefiting students across all visual arts courses--including Drawing, Painting, Ceramics, Digital Art, Metals, and Photography. New equipment such as scanners, monitors, and tablets is helping to expand creative possibilities and skill development for aspiring artists.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT ($32,500)
By funding professional development across all grade levels, we are investing in the educators who devote their time and talent to helping students succeed. This year, a key focus was supporting Act 20 Literacy training for educators working with students in grades 5K through 3, including reading specialists, special education teachers, and multilingual learner instructors, ensuring compliance with state legislation. At the middle school level, grants funded professional learning for all ELA teachers to support the implementation of the new English Language Arts curriculum, helping educators deliver high-quality instruction that meets the evolving needs of their students.
