Where is the run? It starts at Homestead High School (near the tennis courts) and ends 3.1 miles later at the Mequon Library for the Taste of Mequon. See the course map here. There will be shuttles running back and forth between the Taste of Mequon and Homestead High School.
Is The Color Run timed? The MTEF Color Run is not an officially timed event.
Will the color ruin clothes or shoes? The color does mostly wash out after the event. As with anything dirty, the sooner you wash it the better. We suggest wearing items that you wouldn’t mind getting colorful (especially shoes!). How does the color affect the inside of cars? You might want to bring old towels for the inside of your car, and/or a change of clothing. With FUN comes a bit of MESSY.
Are cameras and phones safe? It is recommended that you cover cameras and phones with a protective dust wrap. Those colorful powder particles are sneaky and the MTEF is not liable for any damage that might be done to your camera or phone! Or put your device in a zippered bag and store it in a wearable swag bag for selfies after the race!
Does the color affect vision or breathing? As with any substance, you will want to keep it out of your eyes and the color throwers will be aiming low as you pass by. Some participants opt to wear sunglasses or goggles for their eyes and/or use a bandana or dust mask for their mouths. What is included with my registration? Each participant who registers before August 18th will get a swag bag with racer bib, t-shirt, color packet and more!
Is my registration tax-deductible? The value of the race is $30 per person. If you register on the day of the event $10 per person is tax-deductible. Can my children run on their own? Kids over ten years-old who have parent approval are welcome to run on their own. Please note that the course is a little over three miles and parallels Mequon road for a portion (with volunteer support).
What is the color made of? It’s a powder combo of cornstarch, baking soda, and plant-based, bio-degradable dye. How is the color administered? You will see smiling people at about every half mile who will try to dust you with some color if you run in between colored balloon markers. You can of course run around the color thrower. But if you want to end the race in pristine clean condition, this is not the race for you!
Are there refunds? Short Answer: Nope. Make sure you are OK with participating or donating the funds. We promise to do good work with the $. See more about the Mequon-Thiensville Education Foundation grants here. What happens if there is bad weather? A little rain won’t stop us--it even makes the color brighter! The Mequon-Thiensville Education Foundation and the Taste of Mequon will consult and make decisions should something more threatening be forecasted. Can I transfer my registration to another person? Yep. Contact 1-800-838-3006.
Can I volunteer? Next time! Volunteer positions are all filled.
