The Mequon-Thiensville Education Foundation (MTEF) was incorporated in 1998 as a nonprofit organization committed to advancing educational excellence.  The Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, which operates independently yet in conjunction with the Mequon-Thiensville School District (MTSD) and Board of Education. The MTEF benefits all six schools in the MTSD consisting of Donges Bay Elementary, Oriole Lane Elementary, Wilson Elementary, Lake Shore Middle School, Steffen Middle School, and Homestead High School.

During this fiscally challenging time, MTEF is actively collaborating with the school district personnel and other school support groups with the goal of maintaining and sustaining important programs and projects. A large percentage of funds raised are distributed to teachers and staff in the district to support existing programs and to provide supporting resources. The Foundation also distributes teaching awards established and funded by generous community members.

Funds are raised primarily through the following four initiatives:

  •    Annual Giving Campaign

  •    Tartan Ball

  •    Spring Raffle

  •    Community 5k Run/Walk

A Grants Advisory Committee has been formed to address the shift in the Foundation’s grant funding focus due to the fiscal pressure facing the school district. This committee is comprised of representatives from the M-T School District and the Education Foundation. The mission of this committee is to work with the MTSD in prioritizing and communicating the needs of the district in order to advise district and funding leadership on the use of private money based on the immediate and long-range goals of the district.
